How To Remove Stuck Bearings From Skateboard?

If you’re a skateboarder, you know that one of the most frustrating things that can happen is when your bearings get stuck in your wheels. It’s not only annoying, but it can also cause damage to your skateboard.

Luckily, there are a few ways that you can remove stuck bearings from your skateboard wheels. With a little patience and the right tools, you’ll be back skating in no time.

In this article, we will take a look at how to remove stuck bearings from skateboard wheels

Steps to Remove Stuck Bearings From Skateboard:

If you’re a skateboarder, sooner or later you will have to deal with a stuck bearing. This is a common problem that can be easily fixed with the right tools and a little bit of know-how. Here are the steps you need to take to remove a stuck bearing from your skateboard:

1) Remove The Axle Nut And Washer:

If you’re trying to remove a stuck bearing from a skateboard wheel, the first thing you’ll need to do is remove the axle nut and washer. To do this, you’ll need a skate tool or a regular wrench. Once the nut and washer are removed, you should be able to pull the bearing out of the wheel. If the bearing is still stuck, you can try using a bearing separator tool.

This will exert a little extra force to remove the bearing. If you don’t have a bearing separator tool, you can use a flathead screwdriver for the same purpose. Just be sure to take your time and not scratch the wheel or bearing.

2) Use A Bearing Removal Tool To Remove The Inner Bearing:

If the bearing is still seated in the wheel, the next step is to remove it. For this, you’ll need a bearing removal tool. You can find these at most skate shops, or online.

To use the tool, simply insert it into the bearing and twist it. The bearing should come out easily. If it’s stuck, you may need to use a little more force. Once the bearing is removed, repeat the process for the other side.

Use the bearing press to remove the outer bearing.   The next step is to use a bearing press to remove the outer bearing. This tool works in much the same way as a bearing removal tool, but you can use greater force when removing bearings with this tool.

3) Use A Paperclip Or Similar Object To Remove The Outer Bearing:

Use a paperclip or similar object to remove the outer bearing. This is the most difficult part of the process, as the bearing is usually quite snug inside the wheel. You may need to use a little force to get it out. Once you have removed the bearing, inspect it for any damage. If it looks okay, you can re-use it. Otherwise, you’ll need to replace it.

Remove the inner bearing. You should be able to do this with your fingers. If you need a little bit of force, use a hammer or other object to tap it out.  Clean the wheel and bearings with some mild soap and water.

3) Clean The Bearings And Axle With Soap And Water:

If your bearings are still in good condition but just need cleaning, follow these steps. You will need some soap and water.

Start by unscrewing the axle nut and taking the bearing out of the wheel. If the bearing is really stuck, you may need to use a Bearing Puller tool to remove it. Once the bearing is out, clean it with some soap and water. Be sure to rinse it well so there is no soap residue left on it. Repeat this process for the other bearing.

Once both bearings are clean, put them back into the wheels and screw on the axle nuts. Give each nut a few taps with a wrench to make sure they are tight before you skate again. If the bearings are damaged and need to be replaced, follow these steps. You will need a set of bearing tools which can be purchased at most skate shops, skateboard shops, and sporting goods stores.

4) Reassemble The Skateboard Wheel:

If you’re reading this, it’s likely that you’ve already successfully removed the bearings from your skateboard wheels. Now it’s time to reassemble them! This process is fairly simple, but there are a few things to keep in mind.

First, make sure that the bearings are clean and free of any debris or grime. If they’re not perfectly clean, they may not spin as smoothly as they should.

Next, take a look at the inner and outer races of the bearings. The outer race should be slightly wider than the inner race. If it’s not, the bearing won’t fit properly and could come loose while you’re riding.

Finally, line up the bearing with the opening in the wheel hub. Gently press it into place until it’s seated evenly all the way around.

How Can You Prevent Stuck Bearings From Happening In The First Place?

If you’re a skateboarder, then you know that one of the worst things that can happen is having a bearing get stuck in your wheel. Not only is it a pain to remove, but it can also ruin your skating session.

Once you’ve found a good brand, make sure to clean and lubricate your bearings regularly. This will help to keep them in good condition and less likely to get stuck.
